Aamir Khan Productions comic thriller Delhi Belly , which was one of last years most successful films at the box office, will now be screened at the 65th Cannes Film Festival. The film directed by Abhinay Deo and written by Akshat Verma had raised the standard of filmmaking in India. With brilliant performances by the films leading trio Imran Khan, Kunal Roy Kapur and Vir along with the music which has been rendered by Ram Sampath, Delhi Belly won many awards this year

A year after she gave birth to her first child, Vir, Mandira Bedi and her husband Raj Kaushal are planning to adopt a baby girl. Mandira and Raj will be applying to an adoption agency as soon as their son turns one, as it takes a month to a year for paperwork to be completed and they want a small age difference between both their kids.

The last rites of child artist Taruni Sachdev, who was among the 13 Indians who died in a plane crash in Nepal, were performed on Wednesday evening in Mumbai. Her body was brought to Mumbai from Kathmandu through cargo at 3 p.m.

Last night after the Mumbai Indians (MI) lost the match to Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in the ongoing IPL series, KKR co-owner Shah Rukh Khan allegedly got into a scuffle with the security and Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) officials. The MCA officials claim that SRK, who arrived at Wankhede after the post match presentation got into an altercation with the security after he was stopped from entering the cricket field. Allegedly, he even misbehaved with the MCA officials, including president Vilasrao Deshmukh. The story goes that Shah Rukh and his posse of bodyguards had gone up to the teams’ dressing room and then came down and started to step on to the ground. The MCA security personnel told them they cannot do so as the match was over which led to Shah Rukh abusing them as well as the MCA officials. There was manhandling too by his people. The MCA officials have now lodged a police complaint against SRK at the Marine Drive Police station, for his alleged misbehavior last night at the Wankhede Stadium and have decided to ban him for life from entering the stadium.

On May 14 the Mumbai papers reported that police commissioner Arup Patnaik had ordered the dissolution of six special squads created to combat crime in Mumbai. Reasons for the termination of the squads were said to be connected to the squads’ moral conduct becoming questionable to the point of suggesting a nexus between the law enforcers and law breakers. Uncannily Ram Gopal Varma’s new film Department has exactly the same situation where a special police squad comprising Sanjay Dutt, Rana Daggubati, Deepak Tijori and others which is formed to crackdown on crime, is accused of crime activities and thereafter dismantled. Ramu says he was shocked to read about Arup Patnaik’s dismantled squads. “The situation completely echoes my film. I wrote my script a year back. The thing is when law enforcers are given unlimited power, there is bound to be corruption. There is an old political saying, ‘Absolute power corrupts absolutely’.
